Terry Lok is a registered dietitian and nutritionist who helps clients establish a strong dietary foundation - by teasing out the "how" and "why" in addition to the "what" an individual eats - in pursuit of their individual health goals.
Terry's journey in clinical nutrition started in his high performance rugby days at the University of British Columbia where he experienced the connections between food, body and mind.
Terry earned his Bachelors degree in Dietetics at the University of British Columbia. After the program, he completed his year-long internship with the Northern Health Authority, travelling across Northern BC, experiencing rural communities and working with a diverse population group from Prince Rupert to Fort St. John.
His love with working with a diverse population and research projects in cancer and promoting early nutrition interventions led to a career at BC Cancer and Vancouver Prostate Centre as a front-line clinical dietitian. His passion for nutrition research and improving clinical processes has made Terry a regional leader for the Oncology Nutrition department of BC Cancer.
Terry's open-minded and flexible approach to nutrition incorporates psychotherapy approaches by being present, short-term and client-goal oriented. Whether you would like to improve on a dietary regimen or would like to just take the first-step to long-term health goals, Terry will adapt his practice to meet your needs.
Professional interests include supporting shift workers and frontline workers from nurses to firefighters. Terry has worked with retired, current and aspiring firefighters and police officers to ensure optimal health and peak performance output at all times. He has been invited as a speaker for various first responder organizations including the Surrey Firefighter's Association.
Outside of his work in preventative health, Terry is also a licensed Emergency Medical Responder and you can find him in the humbling great outdoors responding to on-mountain and marine medical emergencies as a patroller for the Canadian Ski Patrol as well as a crew member of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue.
